The first half ended with Western being up one point at 44-43. The entire 20 minutes consisted of multiple lead changes and battles for the ball. Western jumped out first putting points on the scoreboard, until CCU took the lead five minutes into the game. The Mountaineers tied it up at 14 minutes and then stole back the lead at 12 minutes. Christian then took it back again at nine. The Cougars started to create distance, being up eight points with three minutes left. Unfortunately for blue and gold, the Mountaineers banked two three pointers putting them on top going into the locker room.

The second half was no different than the first. CCU and WSCU changed leads six times all the way down till four minutes remained on the clock. This is when the Mountaineers and Cougars were tied at 78-78, and blue and gold had a technical foul giving Western's #22 Danny Hopkins four free throw shots. The Mountaineers went on to win the game. Danny Hopkins scored an outrageous 40 points for WSCU going 12-19 FG, 7-11 2FG, and 9-9 FT.
