Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Claims Win on the Road

Another win was claimed by Men's Basketball on Friday night who defeated Chadron State College on their home court 66-53. A talented five game winning streak for the Cougars puts them at 12-10 on the year and 8-8 in RMAC play. 2016 has treated blue and gold very well regarding their eight conference wins which started on New Year's Day.

After a studious practice week in the gym, the Cougar squad was ready to get on the bus and play ball against the Eagles, a dangerously athletic team. Chadron showed off their skills in the first half finishing ahead of the Cougars by five points as they went into the locker room 36-31. CCU did not struggle offensively as they shot higher percentages than the Eagles in every arena. Defensively, blue and gold was a train wreck giving up 10 offensive rebounds and 12 defensive rebounds compared to a total of 13 Cougar defensive rebounds. With that many second chances, the Eagles flew past CCU on the scoreboard.

Knowing what they had to do, Colo. Christian cleaned up the court and protected the hoop only allowing four offensive rebounds in the second half. This is why the tables turned and CCU took the lead. They kept their shooting on point going 44% from the field, 43% three-point, and 73% from the line. Chadron's shooting collapsed to 26% FG, 18% 3FG, and 50% FT.

The Eagles only scored 17 points in the second compared to CCU's 35. Once the Cougs' defense kick started, CSC could not handle the pace of the game. Wayne McCullough set the bar for blue and gold scoring 17 points, having two assists, two blocks, and two steals. This also was a huge milestone for the one and only senior who overflowed 1000 career points, and has played a huge role in the success of the Men's Basketball program at Colorado Christian. Zach McLemore put up 13 points, and Isaiah Hanson had 12. Ty McGee led in rebounds with five and Dimitri Saliba gave four assists and had four steals.

A great team win for the night. CCU will be back in Denver on Saturday Feb. 6th playing at Regis University (12-4). Tip-off is set for 7 PM.
