Â
Game One:The first game started just as CCU had drawn it up as they were able to capitalize on some miscues by the Orediggers. By the end of the top of the first, the Cougars had jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. Mines answered back with a single run in the first, and then tightened things up in the second when they scored two more runs which cut the Christian lead down to just one run 4-3.
Austin Atkerson came up in the fourth inning and was able to add to the lead as he hit a single to right center which brought in
Jerry Gallegos and
Brandon Hesselberg. Mines answered in a big way in the fifth inning as they scored five runs on five hits to take an 8-6 lead. The Oredigger bullpen came in and shut the door on the Cougars comeback attempt as they went the final 3 2/3
rd innings allowing just two CCU baserunners. Mines added two more runs in the sixth inning which gave them the victory by a final score of 10-6
Â

Â
Game Two:CCU was able to get to CSM early again in game two thanks to a
Pete McWilliams double to right field which drove in
Branden Amenta, and
Brandon Hesselberg. However, Mines did not wait around to make a comeback as they scored six runs in their half of the first inning, and by the end of fourth inning they had the lead 9-2 over Colorado Christian. CCU scored twice in the sixth, and once in the seventh, but it was too little too late as Mines finished the sweep on the day and got the victory in game two by a final of 10-5.
