Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Drops Two Against Metro State

The Cougars began their series with Metro State on Sunday after the snow delayed the start of the series which was supposed to begin on Friday. CCU was unable to come away with a victory as Metro defeated Colorado Christian by a final score of 7-2 in game one, and game two by a score of 12-1.

Game One:
Colorado Christian ran into a buzz saw in the first game as they had the tall task of taking on Roadrunners ace Julian Garcia. Garcia has already been named the RMAC pitcher of the week three times this year. He was able to keep the Cougar bats in check as he threw seven innings and allowed only two runs on five hits. The game was a scoreless tie until the bottom half of the third inning when Metro scored three times, then scored another four runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-0 lead. Colorado Christian tried to answer, as they scored twice in the seventh inning, but it was too little too late as Metro shut CCU for the rest of the game to finish out the 7-2 victory.

Game Two:
CCU took the lead in the second inning of the second game thanks to an RBI double off of the bat of Chance Richardson which scored Bryce Brenton who had singled to lead off the inning. Metro tied the game up in the bottom half of the second inning, then they opened the flood gates in the third inning as they scored six runs to take a 7-1 lead over CCU heading into the fourth. Unfortunately, the Roadrunners continued their offensive onslaught as they scored a single run in the fourth and fifth, and then added three more in the sixth inning to stay ahead by a score of 12-1.

The Cougars will be back in action on Monday afternoon to finish out their series with the crosstown conference foes in Metro State. First pitch is scheduled for 12PM MST at the Regency Athletic Complex in Denver, CO.
