CCU Earned their first conference victory of the season on Monday afternoon as they were able to split the final two games of their series with Metro State. The Cougars won game one by a final of 9-7, but lost the second game by the same final score of 9-7.

Game One:Colorado Christian brought their offense to the first game of the day against the Roadrunners as they finished the game with nine runs on 17 hits. Eight of the nine starters had multi-hit games led by
Jerry Gallegos who finished the day going 3-4 with a run scored. The middle of the lineup drove in all but one run in the game.
Branden Amenta finished going 2-5 with a double, four RBI, and two runs scored.
Weston Wiederhold went 2-4 with a double and two RBI.
Pete McWilliams and
Ben Gooch also finished the game with two hits and one RBI.

Danny Graves got the start for the Cougars on the mound and was pitching well until he ran into some trouble in the middle innings.
Daniel Bednarski pitched 4 1/3
rd innings in relief allowing just three hits and one run while striking out four which allowed him to pick up his first victory on the season.

Game Two:The offense was still clicking as the second game began as CCU was able to score three runs in the top half of the first inning and then scored another four runs in the third inning which gave them a 7-2 lead, but it was not enough as Metro answered with three runs in the bottom half of the third inning and another four runs in the fourth which gave them the 9-7 which ended up being the final score.

Branden Amenta had another multi-hit effort as he finished the game 2-5 with a double and a run scored.
Pete McWilliams and
Jack Nelson both finished the game 2-4 with an RBI.

The two game split now has the Cougars record at 6-19 overall, and 1-11 in conference play. They will be back in action next weekend (Mar. 25-26) as Adams State will be coming to town. The game on Friday March 25
th will be hosted at Colorado School of Mines and the first pitch will be at 12PM MST. Saturday, the Cougars will be back at their home field at All Star Park. Â Â
