Colorado Christian hit the road on Friday to begin a four game series against conference opponent CSU-Pueblo. The Cougars fell victim to an offensive outburst by the Thunderwolves as they were defeated by a final score of 11-3. The loss drops their record to 7-23 on the year, and 2-15 in conference play.
Â
The Cougs were able to get on the board first as they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to an RBI single up the middle off the bat of
Ben Gooch which scored
Jerry Gallegos. CSUP answered back in their half of the first inning which evened the score at 1-1. From that point on, it was all Thunderwolves as they scored three runs in the second inning, and five runs in the third inning to give them the 9-1 lead. They scored 11 unanswered runs on the night and cruised to the victory.
Â
Despite the double digit deficit heading into the final inning, Colorado Christian continued to fight and was able to scratch out two runs and hopefully give them some positive momentum heading into the doubleheader on Saturday.
Pete McWilliams and Del Richardson both finished the game with two hits as McWilliams went 2-5 and Richardson went 2-4.
Titan Marler had the only extra base hit in the game for the Cougars as his double in the ninth inning drove in the third and final run for the team.
Â
CCU will be back in action on Saturday as they will take on CSU-Pueblo for games two and three of their series. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 1PM MST. Â Â
