The CCU women's soccer team played their final RMAC game of the season on Saturday, October 28, verse the Grizzlies of Adams State University. The Cougars took time before the game to honor four seniors for their contributions to the CCU program. The seniors honored were
Alyssa Regalado,
Lauren Cardoza,
Sheridan Spelman, and
Madison McLain.

After the pre-game festivities, the Cougars needed no time to get the scoring going when senior
Alyssa Regalado broke away on a counter attack, dribbled nearly the entire length of the field being chased by a Grizzly defender, and ultimately scoring to put the Cougars up 1-0. The rest of the first half was relatively quiet, and the Cougars would take the one goal lead into the locker rooms.

The second half saw some of CCU's best play of the season, with crisp passes and great shots throughout. CCU would grab another goal in the 67
th minute when junior
Mollie Monson scored off a corner kick assist from senior
Lauren Cardoza. The corner came perfectly into the box and found Monson's foot at the end of the flight, the goal was Monson's third of the season.

The final goal of the day would come in the 71
st minute when senior
Lauren Cardoza launched a rocket from the left corner of the 18-yard box towards the top right corner of the goal and snuck it just under the crossbar for her fourth goal of the year. Cardoza's shot was assisted by sophomore
Sarah Butler's perfect pass from the endline.

The 3-0 win was also the first shutout for freshman goalie Ashley Maguire who was making her 10
th start of the season. She was only forced to make one save in the game, but made multiple other defensive plays to help preserve the shutout.

The leading points getter for the year was senior midfielder/defender
Lauren Cardoza who tallied four goals, and three assists, for a total of 11 points in 2017. Second in points was fellow senior
Alyssa Regalado who added three goals and three assists for a total of nine points. The Cougars end their regular season with a record of 6-9-2 overall, and 3-7-2 in RMAC play.
