Coming off of a tough loss the night before, Women's Basketball took their second loss of the season after the Lady Lions of University of Arkansas Fort Smith won by thirty. The final score was 80-50.
After the first quarter, the Cougars had a six point lead of 17-11. The Lady Lions were quick to come alive in the second quarter, and took the lead for the remainder of the game to take the score going into halftime 34-27.
Alex Nelson and
Jordan Baer lead the Cougars offensively with ten points a piece. Bringing in five rebounds each included
Haley Shaner,
Jordan Baer, and Sarah McGinley. The Cougars offense was versatile, scoring 40% of their points in the paint.
The Cougar defense struggled to put the pressure on the Fort Smith offense. The Lady Lions offense was strong, shown by five of their players scoring double figures. Fort Smith showed no mercy to the RMAC schools this weekend, defeating Colorado School of Mines the night before by thirty as well.
CCU has a couple weeks to recover and adjust from the weekends losses before they play again in the Holiday Inn Denver Cherry Creek Classic, hosted by Metro State. The team will face William Jewell College on November 24th at 3:00pm, followed by Bemidji State University on November 25th at the same time.
