CCU wrapped up the RMAC Conference Tournament dropping the semifinal match vs the #1 seeded Regis Rangers. The Rangers were a tough opponent as they currently top the South Central Region, and tied with Colorado School of Mines as the RMAC regular season champions. The game ended in three sets 25-14, 25-20, and 25-18.
The game was much like the first time the Cougars played the Rangers back in October. A quick 3-0 defeat. There were two factors that played into this match. CCU hitters could not work around Regis' massive block in the front row, and CCU passers could not put up a decent ball on serve-receive. The Rangers put on the pressure with 14 total blocks.
CCU middle hitter
Hope Baldrica led the team with eight kills and libero
Mariela Gonzalez had 16 digs. Christian hit a poor .016% as a team and struggled to play defense in the front row. It was a heartbreaking loss for blue and gold as they worked so hard to make it to this point, but head coach
Bobby Blanken remarked "I am just proud of the progress we made this season and the commitment to get 1% better every day. I am also proud of our seniors who made selfless and countless contributions to building a lasting culture".
