CCU Women's Basketball started off conference play on the road against Regis University at 1:30pm. The Cougars fell to the Rangers with a final score of 85-48.
Starting out strong, CCU lead by four in the first quarter with a score of 17-13. The Rangers came back into the second quarter a lot stronger, and more than doubled the Cougars points, 28 to 11. The trend continued on into the third quarter, which saw Regis doubling CCU's points again. The fourth quarter was more evenly matched, but not enough for the Cougars to come back and make the game close.
Leading the Cougars yet again was
Alex Nelson, bringing in 20 points and 7 rebounds.
Jordan Baer also hit double digits with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
The Cougars, normally strong from the charity stripe, only went 9-17 with a 52.9 percentage. The Cougars had a lower percentage from the three point line as well, only shooting 13.6%.
The loss puts CCU 0-1 in conference, but it does tie up the two teams records to 2-4 overall.
The Cougars will hit the road to play their next conference game on Monday, December 4
th, 5:30pm at Chadron State.
