Colorado Christian made the short commute to Golden, CO on Saturday afternoon to square off against Colorado School of Mines. CCU ran away with it, as they won by a final score of 66-52. The Cougs dominated all facets of the game, in route to their 10
th win of the season.

After gaining lead in first quarter the Cougs never let go. CCU started out hot with
Mikala Gordon scoring six points, along with
Alex Nelson and
Haley Shaner scoring seven a piece, giving Gold and Blue a 20-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. At one point late in the second quarter, the Cougar defense held Mines to a 17.4% (4-23) shooting percentage. CCU's defense was able to hold the Orediggers and widen the gap to a 13-point lead 36-23, heading into the locker room.

Mikala Gordon with nine points and
Alex Nelson with seven rebounds.
Leisha Crawford and
Sarah Holt both had three assists at the halftime break.

The Lady Cougs stayed in control leading 43-34 five minutes into the third quarter. Through back and forth scoring, gold and blue was able to hold the lead for the majority of the game, shooting at 40% (26-65). Colorado Christian was able to shoot 100% in free throws going 9-9. Although the Orediggers led with 16 offensive rebounds to CCU's 10, the Cougars were able to grab 35 defensive rebounds giving Christian the edge on the glass for the game.

Alex Nelson and
Mikala Gordon both ended with a double-double. It was the sixth double-double for Nelson, and the fifth for Gordon. Â

With the win, CCU's record now sits at 10-13 overall, and 8-10 in conference play. The Lady Cougars play again Friday, Feb. 17
th, as they travel to Alamosa for a conference matchup against Adams State University. This will be the second time they face each other this season, as the Cougs won their first matchup back in December by a final score of 78-39. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 pm MST.
