Colorado Christian went 1-1 on day two of the North Texas Softball Bash on Saturday. They lost game one to Tarleton State 8-3, but bounced back to defeat Texas Permian Basin 10-2 in their second game. The Cougars record now sits at 6-5 on the year.

Game 1: Tarleton Powers Past Cougs
Game one of the day saw CCU pitted against a talented Tarleton State squad. The Lady Cougars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as a
Charlotte Romero RBI single scored
Shelbie Day to give Christian the lead. Tarleton answered back in the bottom half of the first inning as they tallied four runs after stringing together a couple of hits, and also taking advantage of an error on the Cougs. The Texans added one more run in the bottom of the second, and took a 5-1 lead after two innings of play.

The score remained 5-1 in favor of Tarleton until the fifth inning when CCU attempted to amount a comeback.
Letty Valenzuela singled to right field which drove in
Hanna Farmer and trimmed the Texans lead down to just three. Unfortunately, Tarleton got that run back in their half of the fifth inning, and they squashed the comeback attempt in the sixth inning by scoring two more to extend their lead to 8-2. The Cougs scored one more run in the seventh, but that was it as they fell to Tarleton by a final score of 8-3.

Shelbie Day was the lone Cougar to have multiple hits in the game, as she finished 2-4 with a triple and one run scored.
Hanna Farmer went 1-4 and scored two runs.
Sarah Probasco took the loss on the mound, dropping her season record to 1-3.

Game 2: Offensive Explosion Leads to Victory
The Cougs came out of the gates flaming in game two of the day against the University of Texas – Permian Basin. Colorado Christian batted around in the first inning, and when the dust settled they had scored eight runs in the inning.
Hanna Farmer had herself quite the first inning. Farmer tripled to begin the game and eventually scored on a
Letty Valenzuela single. In her second at bat of the inning, Farmer deposited her second homerun of the year over the wall in right center.

Colorado Christian held onto the 8-0 lead until the third inning, when UTPB was able to plate their first run. The Falcons added one more run in fifth inning to make it 8-2. In the bottom of the fifth, CCU was able to get those two runs back, which gave them an eight run lead 10-2, which ended the game in the fifth inning.

Kenzie Mattey got the start in game two, and went the distance allowing six hits, two runs (one earned), issued four walks, and struck out six. She earned the win, and is now 3-2 on the year.
Hanna Farmer was the offensive star of the game as she finished just a double shy of hitting for the cycle. She finished the game 3-3 with a triple and homerun, scored two runs, and drove in four.
Stephanie Day went 2-2 with a run scored.
Baylee Johnson went 2-3 with one RBI and run scored.
Letty Valenzuela also had a multi-hit effort as she went 2-4 with two RBI and one run scored.

CCU will be back in action on Sunday morning as they play their final game in the North Texas Softball Bash. They will be taking on Eastern New Mexico University, with the first pitch scheduled for 9AM MST. This will be the second time these two teams have met in less than a week, as they played a double-header on Feb. 7
th. In that matchup, The Cougs lost game one 8-0, but won the second game 11-2. Â Â
