CCU softball was dealt their first split of the season on Tuesday afternoon vs Eastern New Mexico University. The Cougs picked up the game against the Greyhounds in Lubbock, TX in between their two preseason tournaments.

Nothing went the Cougars way at bat in the first game as they had three hits and zero runs. In addition to their stressed offense, they committed four fielding errors. The Greyhounds game was the exact opposite as they totaled 11 hits, winning 8-0 in five innings.

The Cougars turned it around in the second game, especially on offense as they scored in every inning except the fourth. Key players stepped their game up and crushed it at the plate.
Hanna Farmer and
Stephanie Day both hit solo shots.
Sarah Probasco played first base and went 4-2 with three RBIs.
Charlotte Romero shined as the DH going 4-5 with two runs, and two RBIs.
Letty Valenzuela,
Shelbie Day, and
Jennie Winston all hit great and had an RBI. It was a complete 360 from the first game against Eastern New Mexico. CCU was unstoppable and clean in the field. The game ended with a win for blue and gold 11-2.

Kenzie Mattey was on the mound, and threw six innings with six strike-outs (high for this season). She only allowed two runs off four hits. This was Mattey's first win of the season at 0-1.
