Due to weather complications, Colorado Christian began their series with Adams State on Sunday, and were able to split on the day, taking game one by an 8-4 final, but dropping game two 16-15 in extra innings, Both teams have been battling to move up in the RMAC rankings in hopes of earning a spot in the conference playoffs.

Game One:
 The Cougars jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after just one inning of play thanks to an
Austin Maltby RBI groundout, and a
Luke Bote triple that drove in two more.
Evan Fink got the start, and was able to hold the Grizzlies in check for the next two innings allowing just one in the third inning. The Cougs added four more in the top of the fourth which gave CCU a 7-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 4
th. Adams answered with two more to bring the score within four, but the Cougar pitching staff was able to hold off the Grizzly attack moving forward.

Each team scored one more run in the game, which gave CCU the 8-4 victory after nine innings of play.

Jerry Gallegos had a big game for the Cougs as he finished the game 4-5 with a triple, homerun and three RBI. Gallegos finished just a double shy of the cycle as he also scored two runs.
Scotty Wright went 2-4 in the game with a double and a run scored.
Luke Bote went 2-5 with a triple, two RBI, and one run scored.

Evan Fink got the win in the game as he went seven innings allowing 10 hits, four runs, and struck out five.
Owen Harris pitched the final two innings allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out one.

Game Two:
Game two turned out to be an offensive battle, as both teams did everything they could to come away with a victory. After just two innings of play, Adams had jumped out to an early 8-3 lead. That score held up until the fifth innings when each team scored two more runs to send the score to 10-5 after five.

The Cougars answered with three in the sixth inning, and five in the seventh inning which evened the score 13-13 as Adams scored three in the sixth and seventh as well. In extra innings,
Cooper Gray doubled to score
Austin Maltby and
Sam Gallegos which gave the Cougs a 15-13 advantage heading into the bottom of the eighth. However, Adams answered with three in the bottom of the eighth to give them the hard fought 16-15 victory over CCU.

Austin Maltby finished the game 4-5 with three runs scored,
Kaleb Johnson went 3-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Scotty Wright went 2-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Jerry Gallegos went 2-5 with two RBI, and
Luke Bote also went 2-5 with three RBI in the game.

The Cougars will be back in action on Monday as they take on Adams State for the final two games of their series. Game one is set to begin at 11AM MST. Â
