The Lady Cougars struggled at the plate on day two of their series vs Regis University as they dropped both games three and four 9-3 and 9-5.
The wind was blowing out hard throughout the day, but only the Rangers were able to use it to their advantage. Regis had big hits that were well-placed and scored. RU hit two home runs in game three and had 18 total hits to CCU's 10. The Cougars starting pitcher,
Kenzie Mattey took the loss (8-5) throwing 3.1 innings, allowing eight hits, five runs, and five strikeouts.
What a game for CCU's second baseman
Baylee Johnson who had all three RBIs and hit 2-4. Also, never lacking in sharpness was
Hanna Farmer who went 2-3 with one run. The Cougs fell to the Rangers 9-3.
Game four was similar as CCU hitters were too quick to the ball. They rushed to hit and each ball went for an easy put out by the Rangers infield. Christian's first baseman,
Jennie Winston was the first to score in the game with a home run to center field in the bottom of the third inning. Winston also doubled in the fourth to get the Cougs their final two runs of the game. She ended 2-2 with one run and three RBIs.
Regis' bats were on fire as they had 15 hits total and the Cougs had eight.
Sarah Probasco took the loss for CCU (3-6) pitching five innings, allowing 10 hits, five runs, and four strikeouts. Regis had a big fourth and fifth innings scoring seven runs, and ultimately winning the game 9-5.
