After a long day of volleyball, the Cougars started their season 0-2.
The CCU Volleyball Team took to the court for their first preseason game Friday, September 1
st at 1:30PM against Texas A&M Kingsville, hosted by Angelo State. The Cougars lost in four with scores of 23-25, 19-25, 25-22, and 17-25 respectively.
Sophomore outside hitter
Cali Bahnsen lead the team in kills with fourteen on the match. Freshman outside hitter
Jacey Johnson had a strong debut of her college career with thirteen kills, followed by senior right side
Sophia Proano with eleven.

Mariela Gonzalez lead the team in digs with 22, followed closely by senior
Joelle LeFevre who brought in 19.
Only a few hours later the Cougars had their second match of the day against Angelo State, in which they also took the loss but this time in three. The scores were 17-25, 27-29, and 15-25 respectively.
The Cougars struggled offensively, hitting a negative percentage in two out of the three sets, and finishing with a .050 overall. Freshman middle blocker
Jasa Scheierman came through and hit .333 with five kills and two errors on nine attempts. Along with
Sophia Proano, they tallied up three block assists a piece.
Sophia Proano remarked on day one, "Great competition for the first two games of our season. We're looking forward to using this time to continue to develop consistency. I'm very excited for the trajectory of our season!"
The Cougars face Angelo State again on Saturday at 11AM, followed by Limestone College at 4PM to finish out the first weekend of play.
