CCU Men's Basketball played a single game this weekend, hosted by Fort Lewis in Durango, Colorado at 3pm on January 27
th. The win was taken by the Skyhawks, who are ranked 21
st in the nation, with a score of 88-62.
Coming into the game the Cougars sported a record of 3-16 overall, and 2-11 in conference. The Skyhawks boasted a record of 16-3 overall and 12-2 in conference. Fort Lewis also held 2
nd place in conference, while the Cougars held 14
th.
The first half started out with a fairly even game, both teams making quick plays. But it didn't take long for the Skyhawks offense, currently first in the RMAC, to take over. The FLC defense created 17 points off of turnovers, which helped give them a margin of 18 points going into halftime. The score was 50-32 when the teams headed to the locker rooms.
Although the Cougars were able to force more turnovers in the second half, Fort Lewis did not waver. The Skyhawks continually increased the difference until it totaled 26.
Bringing in 20,
Marcus Fager lead the team in points, followed by
Isaiah Hanson and
Stefan Hackethal with 11 each.
The Cougars next game will be the first of a three game home stretch, on February 2
nd, against Chadron State at 7pm.
