Coming off a merry and bright Christmas break win vs Adams State, the CCU Women's Basketball team was ready to play again. Unfortunately, the Griffins overpowered the Cougs 70-61 on Thursday night.
The first half was consistent with the Cougars season as it started off a little slow. Westminster jumped ahead quickly and maintained the lead. Despite a nine point deficit the Cougs were able to close the gap at the end of the second quarter 30-26. Christian was shooting higher from the field (44%) but lacked in keeping hold of the ball with nine turnovers. The Griffins were sharper from three (38%) as well which gave them an advantage.
Both teams preserved their momentum as the game continued into the second half. Westminster led by a comfortable margin 5-10 points, as CCU tried to find a way to score. With three minutes left in the game there was a spurt of greatness from the Lady Cougs. It was a series of three turnovers from Westminster that had CCU right back in the game.

Jordan Baer made a free throw. The score was now 63-60 and Christian did everything to try and get the ball back, but the game ended 70-61.
Leading the Cougs on offense and defense was
Sarah McGinley with 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Colorado Christian is now 2-6 in conference play and 4-9 overall.
CCU's next game will be at Western State on January 12
th.
