LAKEWOOD, CO – It was a great celebration at the start then heartbreak as the final buzzer sounded.
The Colorado Christian men's soccer team closed out the season with a 1-0 setback against Dixie State on Saturday afternoon
SENIOR SALUTE: Prior the game the program honored its four seniors as Blake Goodale, Paul Grizzle, Eduardo Martinez and Nicholas Snyder concluded their collegiate careers.
HOW IT UNFOLDED: In the opening half the Trailblazers had a golden opportunity off a corner kick but a header that was poised for a goal was blocked aside by Alex Tanaka for a team save. Dixie State had a handful of chances to score in the opening 45 minutes but strong defense and goalie play sent the teams into locker room scoreless.
Colorado Christian had a great chance early in the second frame as Ethan Poulter broke open but in chasing the loose ball, Zach Nielson controlled the ball before a solid shot could be taken.
Dixie State found the back of the cage in the 73rd minute when Dresden Quackenbush headed a cross from Iris Alabi into goal.
In the late stages Colorado Christian had a chance with a free kick from just outside the box but the attempt when straight into the defensive wall the Trailblazers set-up.
