Shooter McGinley Paces Cougars

Earning their second RMAC win of the year with ease, Colorado Christian defeated the Chadron State Eagles by 24 points with a final score of 79-55.

HOW IT HAPPENED: From the get go the game was in the Cougars hands. By the time the first quarter was over, the Cougars had doubled the Eagles score, 24-12. Sarah McGinley had the first and last bucket of the quarter, finishing with 11 points.

Chadron came out stronger in the second quarter, earning the first 4 points on the board. Colorado Christian prevailed through the tuocher defense the Eagles were putting up and increased their lead by 4, making the score going into the locker rooms 44-28.  McGinley led both teams at the half with 19 points after going an incredible 5-5 from behind the arc.

Coming into the second half the Cougars were quick to score and earned the first 5 points. The Colorado Christian defense adjusted and forced Eagle turnovers that they were able to take advantage of. Ultimately their consistency on both sides of the court paid off and brought them out on top. The Cougars continued to notch away at their lead to finish with the big win by 24.

Sarah McGinley remarks, "Earlier today I was talking to my dad, he always talks to me before and after the game - and he just said to shoot your shot and felt like the past couple of weekends I was shooting that well. But that's the great thing about our team one of us may not be playing well but five or six others are. We all don't have to be playing well at the same time. However, when that does happen we are going to be a dangerous team. I think we have a special thing going and a lot of it is because we have good leadership. Jordan and Sarah, our team captains, have seen it all at Colorado Christian. They bring a good deal of knowledge to our team and that has been very helpful. We are a genuine close team and have good friendships which makes it easy to play with each other."

GAME LEADERS: Leading the Cougars in both points and rebounds was sophomore Sarah McGinley, earning her career high of 24 points. McGinley went 6-7 from the three point line in the feat.  Also in the double digits was Jordan Baer who tallied 16 points and five rebounds.

UP NEXT: The win gives the Cougars an undefeated conference record of 2-0, and an overall record of 4-4. The team will host the Roadrunners of MSU Denver on Saturday, December 8th at 5pm for their next game.
