CCU men's basketball traveled to Spearfish, SD, over the weekend to take on the Yellowjackets of Black Hills State University. The Cougars won the first match up between these two teams earlier this season in Lakewood by a score of 85-80. This time around though the Yellowjackets prevailed by a score of 97-73 and were almost unable to miss, shooting a scorching 64.5% from the field with 10 3-pointers.
Â
The Cougars played well, shooting 52.8% from the field and 46.7% from 3-point range as a team, but the stellar shooting from BHSU was just too much. Leading the way for the Cougars was
Isaiah Hanson, who was the leading scorer for CCU for the 4
th straight game, this time pouring in 21 points on 9-17 shooting. The only other Cougars in double-digits were
Justin Engesser who had 13 points on 5-6 shooting, and point guard
Christian Hyatt who contributed 10 points with three rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Â
The loss brings Colorado Christians season record to 4-20 (3-15 RMAC) with just four games left to go. The Cougars will be home again on February 16
th to take on the Grizzlies of Adams State University at 7:00 p.m.
