CCU Women's Basketball came out victorious on Friday night as they defeated Adams State 60-55. The young Cougar squad was dominant the entire game. They led the first quarter 13-10, and dominated the second quarter 19-11. At half the Cougs were up 32-21. The second half continued to be a solid performance from Christian, but Adams State cleaned-up their play and put pressure on blue and gold.
Both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter, but CCU still led 43-32. The seconds rolled down in the fourth and the Cougars maintained 10 points up on the Grizzles 47-37. Neither team was shooting anything incredible, but Adams did put on a show in the fourth quarter to make for an exciting game.
With five minutes left the Grizzles started to make a comeback. Every Grizzly bucket from outside dropped in and all of a sudden the score was 50-46, and then 50-48. CCU's star freshman
Sarah McGinley came through with a huge three-pointer though that had the Cougs up 53-48.
The two teams battled back and forth. Adams was desperate to catch up and the Cougs were desperate to keep the lead. Two minutes were left in the game and the score was 53-49. CCU made some untimely fouls that allowed Adams to gain control, but the Grizzles still couldn't find the hoop. A turnover by CCU… and then a turnover by Adams allowed CCU to gain 55-49.
With one minute left in the game Adams banked a three. The two squads were only three points away from each other now at 55-52. Luckily
Bryanne Olson was able to pull a foul and make it a five-point difference. The Cougars bench was fired-up and at this point in the game you could tell that CCU was going to win. Adams State was thinking the same thing though after they made another three-pointer 58-55. This time
Jordan Baer pulled a foul. Twenty seconds were left in the game and with another attempt from downtown, the Grizzlies missed. The game was over and Christian
One minute left and ASU banks a three….three point difference now between the teams.
Madison Price makes her first free throw, and her second. Five point game now and a turnover to
Bryanne Olson who pulls the foul. The Cougars bench was fired-up and at this point in the game you could tell CCU was going to win. But ASU banked another three. and now it was back to a three point game 58-55.
Jordan Baer stepped up to the foul line and made two with 20 seconds left. The Grizzles tried for another three, but missed and the game ended with the Cougars winning 60-55. CCU improved to 7-17 overall and 5-14 in conference.

The Cougars will play their last home game vs CSUP Saturday, Feb. 17
th at 5:00 PM. The seniors will be honored after the game, before men's basketball plays.
