Traveling just down the road to Metropolitan State University, the Cougars suffered a 27 point loss to the Roadrunners. Despite great efforts in the second half, the Cougars were unable to come back after being down by 22 at the half. The loss gives CCU a record of 7-19 overall, and 5-16 in conference.
The first half was a slow start for the Cougs, after the MSU defense held them to just 26% shooting.
Looking like a new team in the second half, CCU came out of the locker room and outscored the Roadrunners in the third quarter. However the 22 point deficit and the Roadrunners consistent play did not allow for the Cougars to make their way back into the game.
Leading the Cougars in scoring was senior
Haley Shaner, bringing in 15. Following with 8 a piece was
Jordan Baer,
Brookelyn Hurlbut, and
Bryanne Olson.
Hitting the road for their last game of the season, the Cougars will travel to Colorado Springs to play the Mountain Lions of UCCS on February 24th, with a 5:30pm tip-off.
