CCU Women's Basketball ended the weekend with two losses as they were defeated by Regis University 84-58 on Saturday night. The Cougars are 6-15 overall and 4-12 in conference.
Colorado Christian jumped out to a much better performance on Saturday night vs the Rangers. The Regis Rangers were tough competition and had good depth on their bench, but blue and gold stayed tough themselves in the first half. Both teams were back and forth until the Rangers went on an early run leading CCU 15-8 and then 18-11. A mix of points from the line and jump shots allowed the Cougs to catch up 19-19. CCU junior #12
Jordan Baer scored high in the first half for CCU with 12 points. With Baer inside and
Haley Shaner outside (scoring eight points) the Lady Cougs looked good, but Christian wasn't able to overcome and gain the lead and went into the locker room down 47-35.
The second half was a different game. CCU lost momentum, energy, and the ball. The Cougars worked hard, but had one too many turnovers giving Regis 25 points, plus 26 bench points. CCU 's shooting was clean as they went 45% from the field, 44% from three, and 80% from the line.
Jordan Baer finished the game with 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, and
Haley Shaner had 13, going 3-5 from three. Newcomer #13
Bryanne Olson played a good game with 35 minutes and eight points.
The Cougars will host a mid-week game Tuesday, Feb. 6
th vs Colorado School of Mines. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
