Cougs Shutout Black Hills 7-0, 9-0

After two solid victories vs Black Hills State, CCU will remain undefeated in conference play at 10-0.  The Cougars shut out the Yellowjackets 7-0 in the first game and then 9-0 in the second. 

CCU's ace Kenzie Mattey (10-0) had another knockout performance in the first game as she threw seven innings and totaled 13 strikeouts, only allowing two hits.  Freshman pitcher Jennifer Romero threw the second game, five innings, with seven strikeouts, allowing only one hit. 
 
Christian continued to crush their at-bats as they totaled 13 hits in game one and then 11 hits in game two.  Standing out at the plate was the Cougars second baseman Stephanie Day and then shortstop Kacie Burger.  Steph Day was perfect at the plate going 4-4, with 2 runs and 3 RBI.  Burger batted .750% 3-4, with 3 runs and 4 RBI.  Burger had a double and a home run on the day.  DP/3B Charlotte Romero went 5-7 with two doubles and Kacie Burger, Carly Perry, and Shelby Fusich each had a homer. 
 
CCU held Black Hills to .073% batting average.  With only three hits and 41 at-bats, the Yellow Jackets offense struggled through both games. 
 
The Cougars will play the final two games of their series vs BHSU Sunday, March 11th at Lakewood Park. First pitch is 11:00 AM.
