Hosting their military appreciation night, Colorado Christian was unable to overcome the Griffins of Westminster despite their strong start. The Cougars lost by 18, with a final score of 62-44.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Although Westminster started out the game with a 6-0 run, the Cougars were able to rally back. The score was tied up at 14's with just under a minute left in the quarter, but after a 4-point play from
Jordan Baer the Cougars had the upper hand of 18-14 taking it into the second quarter.
Stepping up their game defensively, the Griffins held the Cougars to just 4 points while they matched their 14 points from the first quarter. This gave them a 6 point lead going into the half, 28-22.
Both teams came out of the locker rooms playing a little slower offense than before, keeping the score low. Westminster increased their lead by 3, making the score 39-30 going into the final quarter.
Playing their best offensive quarter, the Griffins scored 23 in the fourth to seal the win.
GAME LEADERS: The leading scorers for the Cougars were also the leading rebounders,
Jordan Baer with 16 points and 9 rebounds and
Sarah McGinley with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
UP NEXT: The loss gives Colorado Christian an overall record of 8-9 and an RMAC record of 6-5. The team will host their next round of games next weekend on the 25th and 26th against Adams State and Fort Lewis.
