Opening up their second to last home weekend of the year, Colorado Christian fell to the Grizzlies of Adams State with a final score of 48-67. The teams were neck and neck throughout the first half, but the Grizzlies adapted and came into the second half with a stronger offense to take the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The teams played consistent throughout the first half, with the Grizzlies scoring 13 in each quarter and the Cougars scoring 14 in both. This gave Colorado Christian a 2 point lead going into the second half, 28-26. At the half the Cougars were led offensively by Davenport Brantley with 8 points.
Within a minute into the third, the teams were tied up 30-30. Adams State continued to get their offense going and could not be stopped, allowing them to finish the quarter with 22. Colorado Christian got up 13.
Adams continued to press on and increase their lead in the 4th, scoring 19 and holding the Cougars to just 7 to take the win by 19. Colorado Christian couldn't get the ball to fall tonight, going their first time in 120 games where they haven't scored a 3.
GAME LEADERS: Leading Colorado Christian in points tonight was Marie Tsoungui with 10. Tsoungui also tallied 9 rebounds. Leading in rebounds tonight was Sarah McGinley with 10.
UP NEXT: The loss gives the Cougars an overall record 8-10, and an RMAC record of 6-6. The team is back at it again tomorrow as they host the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College at 5pm.
