PUEBLO, CO – A conference best effort on the defensive side of the field couldn't get the Colorado Christian men's soccer team into the win column for the second straight contest.
Despite a quality effort from goalie Max Collingwood, CSU-Pueblo nabbed a 4-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Thunderwolves continually forced play in their offensive third of the field but Max Collingwood was able to thwart the effort as he made eight saves in the first stanza.
CSU-Pueblo broke through in the 44th minute. Tristan Brown scored his first goal of the season after corralling a pass from Richard Panknin. Early in the second half the home team got some insurance. Carlos Espinoza teamed up with Michael Chism and Marvin Zajonz in the 56th minute to give the Thunderwolves a 2-0 edge.
Colorado Christian immediately countered but an Ulises Garcia shot in the upper third was saved by CSU-Pueblo goalie Tyler Harvey.
In the 75th minute when Vinzent Zingel registered a goal as Panknin earned his second assist of the contest. The game's last goal came with just over a minute left when Joe McKee found the back of the cage.
RMAC SEASON HIGH: Collingwood tallied 14 saves which was the most any goalie has posted this season in the RMAC. It is the most in the conference since the 2016 season when Jack Seifert of Fort Lewis recorded 15 against South Dakota Mines.
