Cougars Stymied Late at Fort Lewis

DURANGO, CO – In each set, it was battle to the finish line. The home team had just enough late to for a five-set win.

Fort Lewis notched a 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 15-9) win as late runs in the last four sets proved critical.

HOW IT HAPPENED: A back-and-forth contest throughout the Cougars were able to claim the first set as they secured a lead earlier and continued to keep the home team at arm's length. A tightly played second frame came down the last handful of points. With Colorado Christian leading 21-19, the Skyhawks won six of the final seven points to tie the contest at a set each.

Once again a late run by Fort Lewis proved to be the difference. Leading 19-18, the Skyhawks finished the third set on a 5-2 scoring spurt to take the match lead. Colorado Christian flipped the script in the fourth set. Tied at 20-20, the Cougars scored five of the final six points to force the decisive frame.
