NAMPA, ID – Colorado Christian started the second road trip of the season in the Fairfield Inn Tournament against Northwest Nazarene University.
Northwest Nazarene and Colorado Christian played close through the first two quarters, with the Cougars only trailing by ten heading into half. The Nighthawks pulled away in the second half, continuing to extend the lead throughout the game to secure the 87-64 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Nighthawks got the early lead and didn't look back, getting a seven point lead after the first quarter.
The Cougars got within five points in the second quarter but could not close the gap anymore and 8-3 by the Nighthawks led to a ten point halftime deficit.
The Nighthawks extended the lead in the second half, with the Cougars never closing the gap to less than 12 for the rest of the game.
COUGAR LEADERS: Sacha Griffin led the team with 17 points as she made a team high 11 free throws. Lourdes Gonzalez, Brookelyn Hurlbut, and Sam Nunez all reached double digit scoring as well. Hurlbut and Nunez led the team with eight rebounds. Marie Tsoungui led the team with four assists.
STATS FROM THE GAME: The Cougars led the Nighthawks in second chance points 15-11.
The Cougars scored 22 points off the bench.
