CHADRON, NE – Colorado Christian was on the road this weekend to begin RMAC play, taking on the Chadron State Eagles.
The Cougars took an early lead and didn't look back as they secured the first win of the season by a final score of 69-56.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Eagles got a lead to start the game, but the Cougars rebounded quickly, scoring six straight to tie the game and took the lead shortly after that. The 29 points scored in the first quarter by Colorado Christian are the most this season.
The Cougars stumbled in the second quarter only scoring nine points and allowing the Eagles to get back in the game. Even with the lack of offense the Cougars were able to maintain the lead heading into the half.
Coming out of the half, Colorado Christian found their offense again, scoring 14 points and playing solid defense, only allowing 11 points for the Eagles. Maintaining the lead heading into the fourth the Cougars were looking to secure the win.
The Cougars played a dominant fourth quarter, icing the game scoring 17 points and holding Chadron State to only nine points, increasing the lead to as many as 14 points, which is also a season high for Colorado Christian.
COUGAR LEADERS: Sam Nunez continued her torrid scoring streak, putting up 22 points including shooting 60% from three. Lourdes Gonzalez recorded a double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nunez and Gonzalez both had three assists.
