ALAMOSA, CO – After a promising start on the road, the Cougars couldn't pull off the victory.
Adams State used a strong second half to post a 78-57 win against Colorado Christian on Saturday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Adams State held the lead for the entire contest but the Cougars stayed within a possession or two of the lead for a vast majority of the first half. In the later stage of the opening frame, the home team took a three-point lead and built that to 10 points (36-26) before taking a 38-32 edge into the locker room
The Grizzles held Colorado Christian to a 36.1 percent shooting effort in the half while making just over 45 percent of their shots in building their six-point lead.
Adams State nudged in front by double figures for good a few minutes into the second half. The Cougars got as close as 10 points with just over five minutes left in the game but could not get their deficit into the single digits. During the last stanza Adams State forced the Cougars into 13 turnovers to pull away.
COUGAR LEADERS: Justin Engesser and Collin Huun each scored a team high 12 points while Marcus Fager came off the bench to score a personal season high 11 points. In 23 minutes Fager went 5-for-8 from the floor while grabbing seven rebounds.
