DENVER, CO – What began with three exhibition games against NCAA Division I foes closed out with a road conference loss.
Regis handed the Colorado Christian men's basketball squad a 98-63 setback in the season finale for the Cougars.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The home team raced out to a 22-7 lead less than nine minutes into the game and never looked back as they secured the No. 3 seed for next week's conference tournament. The defending conference champions held Colorado Christian to a 21.4 percent (6-for-28) shooting effort in the opening frame. Conversely, the Rangers hit 15 of their 31 field attempts as they built a 40-19 halftime edge.
Regis continued to shoot the ball effectively in the second half in holding a commanding lead. The Rangers went 17-for-34 from the floor in the final frame. Colorado Christian went 13-for-34 (32.2 percent) in the last 20 minutes.
COUGAR LEADERS: Collin Huun came off the bench to score a team best 15 points in 16 minutes of playing time. Stefan Hackethal (11) and Jeremiah Hanson (10) closed out their collegiate careers with double figure efforts.
Justin Engesser and Terry McFadden tied for a team high rebounding honors with six each.
