LAKEWOOD, CO – The Cougars got the first of what they are hoping for is many more.

The Colorado Christian women's volleyball squad picked up their first RMAC win of the season in convincing fashion as they sweep (25-20, 25-20, 25-23) Chadron State on Friday evening.

In the process of picking up the win, the Cougars (5-7, 1-3) handed the visitors from Nebraska their first conference loss in their third match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  In the opening set the Cougars found themselves down 13-7 but rallied back to take a 20-16 lead which forced the visitors into their final timeout of the frame. The Eagles bounced back with three straight points but Colorado Christian never wavered as they won five of the next six points.

As the second set unfolded neither team held a lead larger than two points. An Ashley Dyre kill ended that string to give the Cougars a 22-19 edge and force Chadron State into a timeout. The stoppage did little good for the Eagles as Colorado Christian continued their momentum and took a commanding match lead.

Chadron State took a four-point lead (15-11) as the third set progressed but the Cougars rallied to take a 17-16 edge after an Eagles hitting error. Colorado Christian increased that led to 22-19 as the visitors took their final timeout of the set. Chadron State made it uncomfortable for the home team as they got their deficit down to 23-22. After the match was tied at 23-23, back-to-back kills from Katie Henry and Kristy Dick sealed the victory.
