LAKEWOOD, CO – Colorado Christian looked to bounce back against South Dakota Mines in the Saturday slate of games.
A slow first quarter once again doomed the Cougars as the Hardrockers took a commanding lead and didn't look back.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars only scored eight points in the first quarter. The Hardrockers scored 23.
The second quarter saw the Cougars bounce back scoring 15 and outscoring South Dakota Mines by three points, heading into half Marie Tsoungui was leading the team with eight points.
The Cougars scored 14 more points in the third quarter but the lead was still solidly in South Dakota Mines favor as the Cougars never got within less than seven points.
The Cougars never stopped battling, scoring 19 in the fourth, getting within five with just over two minutes remaining. Untimely turnovers and missed free throws sunk the Cougars as South Dakota won 68-56.
COUGAR LEADERS: Tsoungui led the team with 18 points which is a career high for her. Tsoungui also led the team in rebounds with five, and assists with two. Sam Nunez and Olivia Christy also had two assists.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
