PUEBLO, CO – Kicking off the New Year, Colorado Christian traveled down to Pueblo to take on CSU Pueblo in the first game of 2020. The game was a back and forth affair, the Cougars scored 29 points in the second quarter, which helped the Cougars win by a score of 73-64.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The first quarter was a close start to the game with CSU-Pueblo leading by two after the first, McClain Walker hit a buzzer beating three point shot at the end of the quarter from 30 feet out to bring the Cougars within two points.
The Cougars took the lead with six minutes left in the quarter, and extended the lead up to as many as nine points during the second quarter and headed into halftime with an eight point lead.
Colorado Christian kept the lead for the entire third quarter with efficient shooting and shutdown defense. Brianna Pribble had six points in the quarter to help keep the team in the lead.
The Cougars faced no real scare in the fourth quarter as they kept a lead of at least four points throughout the quarter. The lead extended to nine points to end the game and give the Cougars their first win of 2020.
COUGAR LEADERS: Pribble led the team with 15 points, Lourdes Gonzalez had 13 points. Marie Tsoungui had six rebounds and four assists to lead the team.
