LAS VEGAS, NM – Coming off an exciting win at CSU-Pueblo, Colorado Christian looked to continue the winning streak against New Mexico Highlands.
In a game that the Cougars did not trail after the 5:55 mark of the first quarter, Colorado Christian continued the excellent play and secured a 14 point win, 60-46.
HOW IT HAPPENED: New Mexico Highlands scored the first points of the game, the Cougars quickly rebounded and scored 16 in the first half to take a six point lead at the end of one.
Leading into half the Cougars grew the lead to double digits multiple times during the second quarter. Going into half Colorado Christian scored 31 points with 60% shooting.
An eight point start to the second half further secured the Cougars lead, with a sixteen point lead with 6:50 to go in the third quarter. Holding the Cowgirls to just nine points in the third Colorado Christian maintained a 13 point lead heading into the final quarter.
The Cougars didn't let up in the fourth, scoring 15 points and holding a double digit lead for most of the fourth quarter, cruising to the win.
COUGAR LEADERS: Taylor Ferris and Sam Nunez both had 11 points, Lourdes Gonzalez had 10 points. Brookelyn Hurlbut had nine rebounds. Gonzalez had five assists and seven rebounds.
