Cougars Fall Despite Strong Night From Hurlbut

LAKEWOOD, CO – In the only game of the weekend, Colorado Christian and University of Colorado at Colorado Springs went back and forth in a tight defensive affair. The Mountain Lions bested the Cougars 66-52.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars started out the game very hot, scoring the first four points and 17 points in the first quarter against just five for UCCS.

In the second quarter, the Cougars continued their sharp shooting in the second quarter, leading by at least ten until just over two minutes were left in half and led by as many as 13 during the quarter.

After a ten point run to end the half, the Mountain Lions came out fast in the second half, taking the lead early in the third quarter. As UCCS heated up, the Cougars cooled down, shooting only 30.77% and scoring only nine points.

The Mountain Lions stayed in control in the fourth quarter, the Cougars attempted to come back in the fourth but the Mountain Lions kept the Cougars at arm's reach. 

COUGAR LEADERS: Brookelyn Hurlbut led the team for the sixth game in a row with 22 points on 7-10 shooting. Brooke Gumber was second on the team with eight. Sam Nunez led the team in rebounds with eight and assists with nine.
