LAKEWOOD, CO – The new year started off on a good note as the Cougars rolled to a win over Adams State University 75-54. Brookelyn Hurlbut led the team with her first double-double of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars did not trail the entire game against the Grizzlies as they came out of the gate red hot starting on an 11-0 to set the tone of the game and pull away from Adams State. The pace continued through the rest of the quarter with the Cougars scoring 24 points in the quarter.
The Cougars continued shooting well in the second quarter scoring 22 points and led by at least 11 and as many as 26 during the quarter.
Coming out the half the Cougars stumbled slightly with the Grizzlies outscoring Colorado Christian 15-12 with the Cougars shooting 33.33% from the field.
Even with a slower third quarter the lead was never truly threatened for the Cougars in the third or fourth quarter with Colorado Christian maintaining a large lead until the end of the game as they put away the Grizzlies 75-54.
COUGAR LEADERS: Brookelyn Hurlbut led the team in both points and rebounds with 22 and 11 respectively. Lourdes Gonzalez and Mara Kemmer both had 15 points and Gonzalez had nine rebounds. Gonzalez and Hurlbut both had four assists.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

- Quick hands helped the Cougars get 21 points off turnovers
- Grace Field scored her first collegiate points in her first game at the college level, scoring two free throws.
