LAKEWOOD, CO – Looking to get back into the win column after a Friday setback, the Cougars were successful in a big way.
The Colorado Christian women's volleyball squad cruised past Chadron State in straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-10) on Saturday evening.
With the win the Cougars even their RMAC conference record to 5-5 while moving to 8-10 overall as they enter the final stretch of regular season matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED: A strong offensive effort that slowly built to its crescendo as the match ended. For the evening, the Cougars hit a season best .369 as a team as their set-by-set hitting percentage got better as the contest moved along.
The Cougars never trailed and pulled away during the middle points in the first stanza. Leading 11-10, Colorado Christian went ahead 16-14 and ultimately 20-14 before taking the match lead with a seven point first set victory. The home team hit .270 in that frame.
The second set offense only got better and the teams competed in a closer stanza. While the Cougars hit .393, Chadron State stayed with them as they hit .333. The stanza featured six ties and three lead changes. The middle points proved critical again. Chadron State held a 14-12 lead but the Cougars moved ahead with five unanswered points (17-14). Colorado Christian never trailed again.
Colorado Christian owned the third set as they scored 15 of the first 16 points in completing the sweep. The Cougar hitters registered a .526 hitting percentage.

- Alli Douglass (10) and Madelyn Long (12) each tallied double figure kill performances
