DENVER – It's not often you get an opportunity to play the top ranked team in the country.
Hoping to pull off the biggest upset in school history, the Colorado Christian volleyball team showed signs of quality but couldn't grab the victory.
MSU Denver posted a 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-19) victory on Thursday evening as the Roadrunners extended their winning streak to 17 matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In the opening frame the Cougars played MSU Denver tough. Colorado Christian was down just 22-21 but couldn't close that final point gap as the home team won the next three points.
In the second set MSU Denver's offense played efficiently as they produced 14 kills with just five errors. Conversely the Cougars put together a nine-kill frame but committed eight errors.
Colorado Christian held a 7-6 lead during the early portions of the third set. However, the Roadrunners scored 10 of the next 11 points to take a 16-8 edge. Down the stretch the Cougars got as close as four points but couldn't pull any closer.
