BOCA RATON - The Cougars earn their first victory of the season on the road against Lynn University.
HOW IT HAPPENED - It was clear how close and intense this game was throughout all four quarters. The lead switched between both teams 10 times and the Cougars were able to tie up the score six times.
The first quarter produced five field goals, one-three pointer, and two free throws. Freshman,
Mia Guest, has led the team in three-pointers made for the past two games. She was able to notch one three-pointer in the first quarter right away.
Ending the first quarter strongly, Colorado Christian took the lead 13-12. Lynn notched a nine point difference right away in the second quarter making the score 28-19. Forcing the Cougars into a timeout and some lineup changes, they changed the energy of the quarter.
Christen Curry brought the fire they needed to get back in the game. Curry registered four points, along with
Lourdes Gonzalez tallying two in the last second to make the score 28-28.
The third quarter brought a few more trials as they fell 11 points behind turning the score to 42-31. Another forced timeout energized the Cougars once more. Lead scorer of the game Gonzalez, started tallying back up the points for the team with several layups. Guest fired another three-pointer and had two assists in attempt to bring the score back up.
Three free throws helped allow the Cougars to record a score of 46-44 concluding the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was a game changer and displayed Colorado Christian's determination to win. Their impressive defensive game kept them in the game.
Sydney Daniels recorded six points in the fourth quarter alone with two assists. Her consistency on defense and steals led the Cougars to their 63-57 victory.
