Cougars Come Home with Two Wins

PALM BEACH, FL - Colorado Christian come home 2-0 for the first time in over 10 years on a road opener. Palm Beach Atlantic gave the Cougars their 75-63 victory to finish their week in the sunshine state. 

HOW IT HAPPENED - The Cougars started the game off strong with a 22-19 lead in the first quarter. Sophia Karasinski led the team in points in the first quarter in addition to one steal and assist. Karasinski made four three-pointers and tallied 20 points over the course of the game. Colorado Christian notched nine field goals and four free throws. 

Immediately entering the second quarter Haley Hanson fired up the team by shooting a three-pointer in the first few seconds. Christen Curry registered twelve points several of which came in the second quarter as well as her one assist. Jordyn Brown showed off her defensive skills with seven rebounds and two assists to keep the team in the second quarter. 

The Cougars were up 35-32 coming into the third quarter. Standout player of the game, Lourdes Gonzalez, refused to let Palm Beach gain points by blocking a Sailfish's shot and a fast break to a layup for the Cougars. Karasinski subbed in to register another three-pointer, an assist and a steal for Colorado Christian.

Gonzalez's defensive abilities kept the Cougars in the game and led them to their 75-63 victory concluding the fourth quarter. Not only did Gonzalez defend but she notched 14 points, twelve rebounds and one block. Curry recorded 12 points, one assist and one steal for Colorado Christian.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Karasinski registered 20 points with four three-pointers out of five attempts
  • Gonzalez notched 12 rebounds 
  • Agnes Paul tallied nine rebounds and nine points

UP NEXT - The Cougars will face Texas Permian Basin on November, 26 on their home court.
