RAPID CITY, SD – The Cougars traveled to Rapid City SD to take on South Dakota Mines. Colorado Christian trailed for most of the game and fell 71-41.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars started out slowly, only scoring two points in the first quarter on 1-16 shooting. The Hardrockers also started slow only scoring 11 points in the first quarter.
The Cougars warmed up in the second quarter scoring 12 points and were able to cut South Dakota Mines lead to 11 points but the Hardrockers maintained distance from the Cougars and went into the half with a 17-point lead.
Coming out of the half the Cougars scored their most points of the game with 14, the Hardrockers also scored their most points of the game with 21 however and maintained a large lead over Colorado Christian.
The Cougars fought all four quarters but were not able to catch the Hardrockers by the end of the game as the hole dug in the first half was too much to climb out of.
COUGAR LEADERS: Sam Nunez and Brookelyn Hurlbut both had 11 points for the Cougars, Lourdes Gonzalez in her first game back scored six points. Hurlbut also had eight rebounds. Mara Kemmer had two assists for the Cougars.
