Cougars Drop First Two Games on Road Trip

EDMOND, OK – The Cougars first two games of the season did not go as swimmingly as they had hoped as they dropped the first two games of the UCO Festival.

GAME ONE – The Cougars played in a tight game with Cameron University. Cameron scored all four runs in the top of the third, thanks to a double and then back to back singles. The Cougars responded in the bottom of the fourth, as Sydney Reamer hit her first home run of the season, a two run shot to put the Cougars within two runs of Cameron. Breley Webb for Cameron settled down afterwards and finished the game only allowing the two runs and getting credit for the win. Jennifer Romero took the loss for the Cougars, striking out three over six innings. Julie Katz made her Cougars debut, pitching the seventh.

GAME TWO -  The Cougars fell behind quickly as Central Oklahoma scored eight runs in the first inning. Kacie Burger homered in the fifth to get the Cougars on the board, but with only three hits on the board for the Cougars there just was not enough time to create a comeback and they fall in five innings, 9-1.

GAME NOTES:

The Cougars scored all their runs off of home runs today.

Julie Katz pitched in relief in both games, one inning in the first game and two in the second game.

Freshman Kayla and Kenzie Middleton both made their collegiate debuts.

UP NEXT: The Cougars are back at it on Monday, playing against University of Nebraska at Kearney and Northeastern State at 10:00 a.m. (CST) and 3:00 p.m. (CST) respectively.
