Cougars Fall to Orediggers

GOLDEN, CO – Colorado Christian and Colorado School of Mines met on the hardwood for what would be the Cougars only contest of the weekend. A strong Orediggers team led the entire game and finished out the Cougars by a final of 69-40.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars came out of the gate slow in this game, scoring only four points in the first quarter. Colorado School of Mines came out strong with 16 points in the half and created an early gap the Cougars would have to battle back from.

The second quarter was more of the same for the Cougars as they scored 8 points in the quarter on 2-10 shooting from the field and 4-8 shooting from the foul line.

Colorado Christian found some rhythm in the third quarter, hitting two threes and shooting 6-14 from the field. Even the best scoring output of the night was not enough for the Cougars as they were still outscored by the Orediggers 18-16.

The Cougars trailed by at least 20 points for the entirety of the fourth quarter as the win for the Orediggers was never threatened.

COUGAR LEADERS: Sam Nunez led the team with nine points, Molly VandenBrink was second with eight points. Brookelyn Hurlbut had nine rebounds to lead the team and Nunez was right behind her with eight.
