DENVER – The Cougars were hoping their late season winning streak would continue against the defending conference champions.
Unfortunately, No. 21 Regis was building their own winning ways as they posted a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-11) victory on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Rangers offense was clicking and got better as the match progressed.
Regis scored six of the contest's first seven points and any attempts by the Cougars to rally were thwarted as Colorado Christian never got closer than five points in the frame.
The second stanza was a solid offensive effort from both squads as Colorado Christian hit .310 but the Rangers upped the ante as they hit .429. Despite trailing by five points early, the Cougars pulled within 19-17 and 22-20 but couldn't get their deficit any closer.
In the final set Regis used a strong attack as they raced out to the lead and never looked back. The home team posted a .500 hitting percentage in the last frame in helping them complete the sweep.
COUGAR LEADERS: Jasa Scheierman had a team high eight kills with a .500 hitting percentage. The freshman duo of Kylar Raymond and Alli Douglass each registered six kills.
