Cougars Fall in Home Finale

LAKEWOOD, CO – Looking to end their home campaign on a successful note, the Colorado Christian volleyball squad came up short.

Despite playing a solid all around match the Cougars couldn't grab the victory as Northwest Nazarene registered a 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 25-27, 25-21) victory on Wednesday afternoon.

For the Nighthawks it completes a two-win in 24-hour stretch against Colorado Christian after posting a five-set win on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The opening set was indicative of what was to come. The lead switched hands on six occasions with the stanza tied eight times. Tied at 22-22, Northwest Nazarene scored the opening frame's final three points to take the early lead.

The second stanza played out in a similar fashion only a late charge by the visitors made the difference. Despite leading 16-10, the Cougars couldn't pull away as Northwest Nazarene rallied back. Colorado Christian still held a 21-19 lead but the Nighthawks scored six of the next seven points to take a commanding lead.

Northwest Nazarene nearly won the match in straight sets but the Cougars fought off three match points before winning the set on their second opportunity to force the match to continue.

However, the home team's momentum couldn't be continued as Northwest Nazarene hit. 500 in the fourth frame, and never trailed, to seize the contest.

COUGAR LEADERS: Jasa Scheierman had a match high 12 kills to pace the Cougars front lines while Kylar Raymond registered a 10-kill effort.
