Building Some Momentum

Despite a rough start to the season, the Cougars have come on of late by winning their last two matches after winning against Adams State and Black Hills State last week. Colorado Christian has won six of the last eight sets they have played. During this streak, the Cougars are averaging two more kills per set than their opponents (12.88 - 10.88) while tallying 19 service aces compared to just eight from the opposition.

Checking In on the Newcomers

A handful of newcomers have begun to assert themselves well to the NCAA Division game.

Junior Transfer Breanna Allen leads the team with a 3.20 kills per set average while playing in 20 of the team's 31 sets. Freshmen Alli Douglass (2.95) and Kylar Raymond (2.65) ranked second and third respectively in kills per set on the squad. Megan Piton has taken on more responsibilities along the back lines as the newcomer is second on the team with 57 digs. She has started at the libero position in two of the last three matches.

In the Conference Stats ...

For a team perspective the Cougars are tied for seventh among league schools in attack percentage (.170) with their 12.48 kills per set average ranking them fifth. At the service line they fourth in the league in service aces per set - 1.67.

Maddie Burns continues to rank third in the conference in assists (9.80 assist/set). Offensively the duo of Breanna Allen and Alli Douglass kills per set average is fourth and eighth among all RMAC players. Christa Tucker is serving up 0.46 aces per set which ranks fifth in the conference.

Head Coach - Bobby Blanken

The 2020 season will be Bobby Blanken's fourth as Colorado Christian's Head Volleyball Coach. In his first year, Coach Blanken led the team to a conference record of 14-4 which landed a 4th place conference finish which allowed the program to host a RMAC Tournament match for the first time.

During his three seasons with the Cougars he has coached six all-conference players as well as an all-region and All-American player in Sophia Proano. 9248

Before Colorado Christian, Blanken served MSU Denver's head assistant coach since 2014. In his three-year stint at MSU Denver, Blanken helped lead a very successful program that went 18-0 in the RMAC in 2016.

Prior to coaching at MSU Denver, Blanken was the Head Women's Volleyball Coach at The Master's College in Santa Clarita, CA from 2010-2014. During his time at The Master's College, Blanken successfully built the program from a 7-22 first year record to a No. 6 NAIA finish in his final year. Blanken was named the 2012 AVCA West Region Coach of the Year and 2012 Golden State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. At The Master's College, Blanken totaled a record of 87-56 (.608).
