UCCS Keeps Cougars Off the Scoreboard in Doubleheader

LAKEWOOD, CO – There was very little to enjoy about Monday.

The weather made things miserable for all those involved in the RMAC doubleheader as UCCS came away with a pair of shutout wins.

GAME ONE – UCCS 16, Colorado Christian 0

The Mountains Lions continued their trend of scoring early in the series. UCCS loaded the bases in the opening inning before scratching across a run on wild pitch. The visitors put a three-spot on the scoreboard with four hits in the third frame.

The middle innings were scoreless before UCCS put the game away with an eight-run seventh inning on five hits.

Three Mountain Lion pitchers combined on the shutout as they have gave-up just four hits.

GAME TWO – UCCS 7, Colorado Christian 0

The Mountain Lions held the Cougars to a pair of hits as they swept the series.

UCCS held a 5-0 lead after the first two innings then scored two in the fifth frame and three pitchers kept Colorado Christian off balance in posting the win.

The game was called after five innings as the temperatures stayed in the low 30s with drizzle making the game tough to continue.

UP NEXT: The Cougars travel to CSU Pueblo this weekend.
